A kitchen update focused on contrast and calm. Light mint/gray panel cabinetry sets a soft base, with light veined counters and a glossy tile splash to keep the room bright. Wood tone shelves and a simple hood provide contrast at the cooking wall, and globe pendants with metal hardware in a brass tone finish the space without blocking views.
-
Plan for daily cooking and island seating at the same time. Keep paths direct, give the range and sink real space to work, and use lighting that is even at the island and clear at the counters. Choose surfaces and details that clean easily and provide contrast.
-
Plan and storage
Shorten “the triangle” and keep aisles comfortable so prep and seating do not compete. Use tall cabinets and deep drawers so small appliances and tools live off the counters.
Palette and surfaces
Pale mint/gray cabinets set the tone. Light veined counter-tops and glossy tile brighten the space without feeling busy. Wood tone shelves break up the tile and create a contrast across the cooking wall.
Lighting and hardware
Clear globe pendants cast an even pool of light over the island. Brass fixings add small moments of contrast in areas tall and low.

Light mint/gray panel cabinetry
Sets the base color and keeps the room soft. The mint pairs easily with darker fixtures and appliances without fighting them.Pale, veined counters
Light surfaces keep the workspace bright. Gentle veining adds variation across longer runs so nothing feels flat.Glossy rectangular tile
Simple rectangles add texture and a bit of shine without turning the splash into a pattern wall. The surface stays easy to wipe down.Wood tone floating shelves
Two shelves break up the tile and give everyday pieces a clear spot. Their tone relates to the hood detail, so the cooking wall feels continuous.Straight edged hood
A plain, boxy form keeps the range area quiet and makes cleanup straightforward.Clear globe pendants
Glass shades light the island evenly and stay out of the way visually, so you can see across the room.Pull down faucet and metal pulls
The faucet reaches pots and trays easily, and the pulls give a solid grip on doors and drawers.
